PECS - who we are...
The inaugural PECS conference, held in Laguna Beach, USA and organised by Eli Yablonovitch, was called WECS - Workshop on Electromagnetic Crystal Structures, Design, Synthesis, and Applications.
Photonic and electromagnetic crystals have fascinated - and confounded! - researchers over many years. It is this intense interest which in the January of 1999 drew together those studying in the nascient field to organise the very first of the PECS conferences.
